Total Refit Jod35
In January 2007 tuttamania worked on a JOD35 for o total refit. Being an unique and complex work we will try to present here, all the steps made in the reconstruction of this boat.
Treatment of the Hull
- removal of all the publicity adds with hot air jet.
- degreasing of the hull with 3M product.
- repair of gel coat.
- hull rub down with sandpaper in 3 sections P320/P600/P1000.
- polish with thick and thin 3M product.
Treatment of the Bottom
- removal of all antifouling and primer coats bringing the bottom to gel coat.
- reconstruction of the bottom protection with epoxy in the damaged areas.
- bottom rub down with P180 sandpaper.
- application of 5 coats of primer anti –osmosis (International-gel shield).
- application of 2 coats of hard matrix anti-fouling (International).
Treatment of Fin Keel and Rudder
- rust removal with DSK paint remover.
- application of marine anti-corrosion primer.
- application of sikaflex cord ( Sika 291) between the fin and the bottom.
- application of antifouling.
- removal of all the antifouling and primers from the rudder.
- application of 5 coats of anti-osmosis and 2 coats of antifouling.
Treatment of the Lifeline
- dismount of all stanchions and bases.
- repair of gel coat.
- application of knew bases and insulation with sikaflex .
- polish and straighten of the stanchion.
- total mounting of the lifeline.
- mount the ropes in the stern pulpit.
Repair of the Mast
- loosen all the riggings.
- eemoval of the wood wedges of the mast hole.
- application of knew wedges in Teflon.
- lubrication of the shrouds with Harken grease.
- readjustment and tuning of the mast with tension meter.
- replacement of all the locking pins.
Repair and Treatment of the Deck
- wash the deck with Doodlenbug system.
- repair of gel coat.
- replacement of Harken cleats.
- dismount and repair of the two travellers of the roller-furling.
- application of aluminium bars of 4mm to reinforce the fixing of the travellers on deck
Repair of the Transom
- removal of all the old and damaged sikaflex and gel coat.
- application of gel coat/silica.
- sikaflex cord on the entire transom.
- air –less painting and polish.
